What Happened

Clearwater Police have information on a crash that killed a teen at Gulf-to-Bay Blvd in Clearwater, FL on February 17th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. According to investigators, 19-year-old Isaiah Edward Baker Castellano was using a skateboard in the westbound lanes, crossing a marked crosswalk. Investigators say a crane truck operated by 35-year-old Leptons Lopez Diaz allegedly ran a red light before colliding with Castellano. The collision left Castellano wish injuries he later died from at an area hospital. Police say it did not appear that Diaz was impaired at the time of the crash and had no additional information to share.
