What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a man at State Route 78 in Glades County, FL on May 2nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a pickup truck was headed northbound on Ortona Rd. The vehicle was approaching the intersection with State Route 78, a dump truck operated by a 31-year-old male headed eastbound at the time. Investigators allege the pickup truck missed a stop sign before traveling into the path of the dump truck, the two vehicles colliding at the intersection as a result. The driver of the pickup truck, a 37-year-old Moore Haven man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. The condition of the other driver was not stated and police did not have additional information to share.
