Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a man at State Route 31 in Charlotte County, FL on May 4th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 4:45 a.m. They say a bo truck operated by a 29-year-old Tampa man was headed northbound on Route 31 when a passenger sedan operated by a 23-year-old Fort Myers man collided with a the front left of the truck. The impact sent the car into a guardrail before catching fire. The driver died at the scene. The box truck driver was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
