What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a teen at South Myrtle Ave in Jacksonville, FL on December 7th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:40 p.m. Police say a minibike allegedly left the sidewalk into the roadway before colliding with a dump truck in the process of performing a right turn. The 13-year-old driver of the minibike as well as a 14-year-old passenger were reportedly ejected from the vehicle and hospitalized for treatment. The 13-year-old had injuries said to be minor while the 14-year-old later died from his injuries. Authorities had no additional information available.
