What Happened

Florida Highway Patrol officials are looking into a collision that killed a woman at Rockley Blvd and Montrose Dr in Sarasota County, FL on November 5th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 11:33 a.m. A Nissan Sentra operated by an unidentified 80-year-old Venice woman is said to have been headed southbound on Rockley Blvd and approaching a stopped semi-truck. The truck was reportedly sitting in a right-hand southbound lane for a delivery and the Sentra is said to have failed to come to a stop, colliding with the rear of the truck. The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries she died from. Additional information was not available.
