Georgia State Patrol officials are investigating a collision that killed a child at State Hwy 19 and I-16 in Laurens County, GA on July 30th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:54 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford van headed southbound on Hwy 19 is said to have missed a turn into a gas station. While attempting a u-turn, the van was struck by a dump truck traveling behind the vehicle. A pregnant passenger in the van was seriously injured and her unborn child was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Two others were seriously injured. Several other passengers are said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Additional details were not available.
