What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed three people at Hwy 57 in Emanuel County, GA on August 17th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:15 a.m. According to inveetigators, a passenger van was headed northbound on Griffin Ferry Rd when it reportedly ran a stop sign and traveled into the path of a semi-truck. The two vehicles collided, killing three occupants in the van. They were identified as 45-year-old Mitchel Carter, 63-year-old Thelmon Crabb and 44-year-old Ruben Gonzalez-Velasquez. The driver of the tractor-trailer and one other van occupant were both hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not available.
