What Happened

State Police have information on a collision that killed at least one person involved at Hwy 112 in Mitchell County, GA on July 10th, 2023. Officials say it happened around 10:40 a.m. According to investigators, a Mazda pickup truck operated by 51-year-old Scotty Lloyd hydroplaned while navigating a curve in the roadway. The vehicle ended up traveling into the path of a tractor-trailer, the two vehicles colliding in the process. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to travel over the pickup truck, leaving Lloyd with fatal injuries at the scene. Passengers in the pickup truck were hospitalized  with undisclosed injuries. The condition of the tractor-trailer operator was not revealed and authorities did not have additional information available.
