What Happened

Georgia State Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at Poplar Springs Rd in Hall County, GA on March 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. Investigators say a Pontiac was stopped waiting to turn onto Cane Crossing Drive when it was struck in the rear by a dump truck. The impact pushed the Pontiac into an adjacent lane where it was struck by two other vehicles. The driver of the Pontiac was taken to an area hospital with injuries they later died from. Police later named the victim as 52-year-old Sherry Ann Hewell. Police filed charges for Homicide by Vehicle and Following Too Closely against 62-year-old Timothy Wayne Holbrooks in connection with the crash. Additional information was not available.
