Illinois State Police rare investigating a crash that killed a person at I-294 in Cook County, IL on February 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:19 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Sentra was stopped in a southbound lane following a previous collision. While stopped, the vehicle was struck in the rear by a semi-truck. The driver of the Nissan, 59-year-old Diana Garcia, was hospitalized with injuries she later died from. A passenger was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The truck driver was not injured. Additional information was not immediately available.
