What Happened

State Police are investigating a collision that injured two drivers at I-57 in Champaign County, IL on April 11th, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a dump truck traveling into a lane was struck by a semi-truck. The semi-truck caught fire in the collision. The driver of the dump truck, identified as 29-year-old Manuel A. Chavarria, was hospitalized with undisclosed injures. A passenger, identified as 51-year-old Zamudio Escamilla, was also hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
