What Happened

Illinois State Police are investigating a collision that killed two people at I-70 near Mulberry Grove, IL on August 20th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:19 a.m. A Honda Odyssey operated by 19-year-old Cole Young was struck by a semi-truck that veered across a median into oncoming traffic. The truck also struck a pickup truck pulling a car before coming to a stop. Young and his passenger, 20-year-old Marsada Connors, both died at the scene. The occupants of the pickup truck refused treatment at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck, 55-year-old Bill Lard, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police issued Lard Improper Lane Use and Failure to Reduce Speed citations.
