What Happened

Illinois State Police are investigating a collision that injured a teen at I-57 and Fayette Ave in Effingham, IL on April 6th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:25 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet Malibu operated by a 16-year-old female driver was merging onto the southbound ramp while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer. In the process, the Malibu collided with a second truck and all three vehicles rested in the right shoulder. The teen was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
