What Happened

Frankfort Police Department officials have identified the person killed in a crash at State Rd 28 in Frankfort, IN on February 16th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:15 p.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck crossing State Rd 28 allegedly failed to yield to traffic. While crossing, a vehicle operated by 25-year-old Kapono Wood struck the truck and traveled under the attached trailer. Wood was taken to an area hospital with injuries the were declared fatal. Police say they do not suspect the driver of the truck was impaired and add that they were not injured. Additional information was not available.
