What Happened

State Police have identified the woman killed in a crash at US 421 in Ripley County, IN on August 4th, 2021. Police say the incident happened when a passenger vehicle operated by 80-year-old Mary L Hunt reportedly crossed a center line while headed south and crashed into a box truck operated by Ronald Chigumira. Police say the box truck took evasive action to avoid the crash but was unsuccessful. The vehicles collided head-on and Hunt suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Chigumira was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
