What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that left a driver dead at SR 28 in Tipton County, IN on June 5th, 2023. Police say it happened just pas noon. According to investigators, a pair of pickup trucks towing anhydrous tanks were both traveling westbound at the time. Traveling behind the vehicles was a Volkswagen operated by a 17-year-old driver. Police allege the Volkswagen was attempting to go around the trucks and sideswiped one of them in the process. The vehicle also struck a westbound tractor-trailer operated by 57-year-old Matthew Marley. Officials say Marley's truck lost control in the process and traveled across a center line before colliding head-on with one of the pickup trucks. Marley suffered fatal injuries in the crash while the injured pickup truck driver, 42-year-old Shaun McCord, was hospitalized. The teen was treated for minor injuries.
