What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed a teen at US 6 and County Rd 425 in LaPorte County, IN on October 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7:10 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on Hwy 6, approaching the intersection with County Rd 425. Upon reaching the intersection, official say the vehicle slowed to make a left turn. While turning, it has been alleged the vehicle failed to yield to a pickup truck headed westbound on US 6. The two vehicles collided, leaving the 16-year-old driver of the pickup truck seriously injured. Sources say he was transported to an area hospital and died shortly after arrival. The other driver, who was not publicly identified, was allegedly uninjured. Additional details were not available.
