What Happened

State Police have identified the person killed in a collision at Hwy 122 near Mason City, IA on September 15th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5:39 a.m. A Chevrolet Silverado operated by 57-year-old Matt Hoveland traveling westbound on Hwy 122 and a tractor-trailer headed southbound collided at an intersection in foggy weather conditions. The semi-truck overturned, ejected the driver, and caught fire. The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Amar Pinjo, died at the scene. Hoveland was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.
