What Happened

Iowa State Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at Kirkwood Ave in Mitchell County, IA on September 19th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. According to investigators, a Mack truck headed southbound is said to have collided with a semi-truck that allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. A passenger in the Mack truck, identified as 60-year-old Eric Mitchell, was ejected from the vehicle in the impact. Report say Mitchell was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he later died from. Reports also say both the Mack truck operator, 43-year-old Senika Range and semi-truck operator, 24-year-old Christo Van Der Linde, were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
