What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed a woman at Hwy T-22 in Jasper County, IA on December 14th, 2024. Police say the incident happend around 4:27 p.m. According to instigators, a semi-truck headed southbound is alleged to have veered partially from the road before attempting to return to the roadway. In the process, the vehicle is said to have crossed a center line into northbound lanes before colliding head-on with a Chevrolet pickup truck. Reports indicate a passenger in the pickup truck, identified as 51-year-old Jill Christine VanDyke, was fatally injured. The semi-truck operator was allegedly uninjured while the pickup truck operator, 56-year-old Gerry Lee VanDyke, was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.
