What Happened

Area authorities have confirmed a fatality in a crash at I-35 in Williams, IA on August 4th, 2021. Police say the incident involved a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara and a 2007 International tow truck. The Suzuki, operated by 58-year-old James Bergert, reportedly collided with the rear of a the tow truck, operated by 61-year-old Anthony Nessa. A passenger in the Suzuki, identified as 51-year-old Joanna Rizzo, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Police say that she was not wearing a seat belt. Bergert suffered minor injuries in the collision. Additional information was not immediately available.
