What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person at Hwy 44 in Dallas County, IA on May 22nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:45 a.m. Investigators believe a truck occupied by 69-year-old Michael Remus was slowing for traffic ahead when it was rear-ended by a concrete mixer operated by 32-year-old Kodi Hoback. Remus suffered fatal injuries in the collision while his passenger, 65-year-old Julie Remus, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Officials say Hoback was not injured and had no additional information to share.
