What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a tractor operator at US Hwy 71 in Spencer, IA on April 2nd, 2023. Officials belie the incident happened sometime around 6 p.m. Investigators are saying an International 300 tractor operated by 77-year-old Roland Dean Taylor was headed northbound at the time. Under circumstances that have not been confirmed, the tractor was somehow struck from the rear by an approaching Chevrolet K2500. Tylor was ejected from the tractor in the collision, suffering fatal injuries at the scene. The other driver involved, 68-year-old Jon Maurice Helm, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Additional details are not available at this time.
