What Happened

State Police are investigating a collision that killed a driver at Hwy 63 near New Hampton, IA on September 15th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. A Hyundai Accent operated by 68-year-old Thomas Kolodziej was merging onto the highway when it reportedly failed to yield. It was struck by a semi-truck headed eastbound on Hwy 18. Kolodziej suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured.
