What Happened

State Police have information related to a multi-vehicle crash that killed two people at K-14 near Nickerson, KS on February 4th, 2022. They say it happened just after 4 p.m. and began when a Ford Mustang operated by 17-year-old Matthew H Monroe collided with the rear of a Mitsubishi Galant slowing for a vehicle ahead making a left turn. The impact sent the Galant into a northbound lane where it was hit by a tractor-trailer and Chevrolet Suburban. The semi-truck became jackknifed in the impact and was truck by a Dodge Ram. The driver of the Mitsubishi, 30-year-old Alexander K. Dennis and his passenger, 13-year-old Teagan Lomax, both suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The semi-truck driver, 60-year-old Clarence R. Messick, was hospitalized with possible injuries. Police say no one else involved reported being injured. Additional details were not available.
