What Happened

Kansas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US Hwy 56 in Ford County, KS on January 4th, 2025. Police say the incident happened around 6:20 p.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck headed eastbound is alleged to have lost control while traveling on the icy roadway. The truck became jackknifed, reprots say, as a Toyota Tacoma approached. The Toyota, operated by 28-year-old Bernabe E. Rincon, collided with the jackknifed truck. Rincon was fatally injured while a 27-year-old passenger, who was not publicly identified, was seriously injured. The truck operator, also not publicly identified, was allegedly uninjured.
