What Happened

State Police have information on a crash that injured a motorcyclist at Hwy 56 in Rice County, KS on June 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:05 a.m. According to investigators, a motorcycle operated by 66-year-old Christopher Detmer was traveling westbound as a semi-truck ahead slowed to turn. Police say the motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck as a slowed, ejecting Detmer from the vehicle. Officials say Detmer was hospitalized with injuries  believed to be serious in nature. The driver of the semi-truck, 61-year-old Gerald T. Aguilera, was not injured, according to authorities. Additional information was not available.
