What Happened

Kansas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Hwy 54 near Pratt, KS on July 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:20 p.m. Investigators believe a Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by 37-year-old Dustin Brenner was traveling northbound on 70th Ave. At the same time, a semi-truck operated by 29-year-old Victor Maldonado was headed westbound on Hwy 54. Police allege the Dodge missed a posted stope sign at the intersection, colliding with the semi-truck. Brenner was taken to an area hospital with injuries believed to be serious in nature. Maldonado was also hospitalized with injuries said to be less serious. Additional information was not available.
