What Happened

Kansas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a fatal crash near US 75 in Brown County, KS on December 24th, 2021. Police say it happened just after 1 p.m. near the Sac & Fox Truck Stop. Investigators believe a tractor-trailer was pulling out a private driveway near the truck stop when it was struck in the rear by a Chevrolet SUV entering the intersection. The driver of the SUV, 46-year-old Socorro Mercado, died at the scene. Additional details were not available.
