Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that injured a firefighter at I-10 in Lafayette, LA on March 10th, 2022. Police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. According to investigators, a vehicle reportedly veered from the road  to avoid an 18-wheeler operated by an alleged intoxicated driver. The firefighter reportedly jumped from the vehicle to avoid the oncoming truck, suffering a 20-foot fall. The firefighter was hospitalized with serious injuries. The truck driver, operated by 51-year-old Nathan A. Martin, faces failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, open alcohol container, OWI and vehicular negligent injuring.
