What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Old Hammond Hwy in Baton Rogue, LA on June 4th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. According to investigators, a roof rack detached from a Kia Optima operated by 75-year-old Nelson Nunez as he was traveled on the interstate. Police believe Nunez attempted to retrieve the fallen items when he was struck by an approaching 18-wheeler. He was then transported to an area hospital with injuries he later died from.
