What Happened

State Police have information in a crash that killed a bicyclist at LA 541 in Jefferson Parish, LA on April 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. Investigators allege 32-year-old Pedro Manzueta was traveling via bicycle in or near an eastbound lane as a tractor-trailer behind allegedly attempted to pass around a curve in the roadway. The truck struck Manzueta in the process, forcing him from the bicycle to the grown. Despite wearing a helmet, the collision was severe enough that he suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Police say the truck driver performed a breathalyzer test that allegedly did not show signs of alcohol. Additional details are not available at this time.
