Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed two children at US Hwy 425 in Rayville, LA on August 14th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 7 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Suburban operated by 43-year-old Kasey Thompson was southbound on US Hwy 425. Police say the vehicle was preparing the turn left when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. The collision caused the vehicle to catch fire, leaving two children in the vehicle, ages 9 and 7, with fatal injuries. The driver and a front seat passenger were both hospitalized with suspected non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 70-year-old James Barnes, was reportedly injured. Authorities did not have additional information.
