What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a man at Emmorton Rd in Abingdon, MD on April 21st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:40 p.m. According to police, a tractor-trailer was headed northbound on Emmorton Rd while an SUV was headed southbound. The tractor-trailer reportedly failed to stop at a red turn signal and collided with the car. The SUV then swerved to avoid the crash and the car collided with the SUV before veering from the road. The driver of the car, 36-year-old Raul Alejandro Smith, was hospitalized with injuries he later died from. The other drivers involved reportedly declined medical treatment.
