What Happened

Michigan State Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-96 near Lowell, MI on August 9th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4;15 and involved a multi-vehicle collision. According to investigators, a a semi-truck traveling westbound was approaching stopped traffic before colliding with the rear of a stopped vehicle. The stopped passenger vehicle was pushed into a median while the truck collided with a second semi-truck. The impact from the collision forced the second semi-truck to collide with a third semi-truck. The driver of the first semi-truck, who was not publicly identified, was ejected from the truck in the crash and hospitalized with injuries they later died form.
