What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at  Hwy 61 in Winona, MN on February 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened when a Saturn Vue operated by 29-year-old Kendra Atherton-Guenther collided with a parked semi-truck on the shoulder near Sugar Loaf View Rd. Investigators say the roads were covered with snow and ice at the time and that the driver did not have a seatbelt on at the time of the collision. Atherton-Guenther suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
