What Happened

State Police are investigating a collision that killed a driver at Hwy 63 and Vandiver in Columbia, MO on August 30th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5 a.m. A passenger car headed northbound on Hwy 63 reportedly made a u-turn into the path of a tractor-trailer and the two collided. The car had previously been in the shoulder and the driver, 37-year-old Shannon Marrero, was previously assisting another driver before the u-turn action occurred. Marrero suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The truck driver was not injured.
