What Happened

Area authorities have details on a crash that led to a fatality at US Hwy 81 in Pierce, NE on February 8th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. According to initial reports, a semi-truck operated by 33-year-old Kevin Pelc was exiting the Prime Stop and pulling onto US Hwy 81 when it pulled into the path of a sedan operated by 51-year-old Peter Graham. The sedan collided with the rear of a semi-truck as a result before veering from the road and overturning. A passenger in the sedan, 36-year-old Cassandra Lacost, was hospitalized with serious injuries after being found unresponsive at the scene. Police say she died from her injuries a short time later and did not state the conditions of the other drivers. Additional details were not available.
