What Happened

Area authorities are investigating an accident that killed a woman at US Hwy 30 and 355th Ave in Duncan, NE on February 11th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:11 a.m. A Peterbilt semi-truck carrying cornstalk hay bales was headed westbound when a bale fell off the truck and fell onto an eastbound Lincoln Continental. The impact caused the Lincoln to veer from the road into a field and the driver, identified as 58-year-old Lerae Ahlers, died at the scene. The truck driver, 25-year-old Layne Laska, was not injured.
