What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at Hwy 6 and Hwy 25 in Hitchcock County, NE on July 18th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 6:55 a.m. According to investigators, a semi-truck headed northbound on Hwy 25 before allegedly failing to stop at a posted stop sign before colliding with a westbound semi-truck truck. Authorities say the driver of the westbound semi-truck, identified as 42-year-old Wayne Cook, was fatally injured. The other driver, identified as 50-year-old Keith Gesegnet, was allegedly arrested on several charges, including open alcohol container. Additional information was not immediately available.
