What Happened

Las Vegas Police have charged a driver in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a child at an apartment complex in Las Vegas, NV on August 13th, 2022. According to authorities, a group of children were riding bicycles in an alleyway of the apartment complex when one, age 6, fell to the ground. The child was struck by a U-Haul truck, whose driver, identified as 21-year-old Michael Burdick, is said to have initially stopped to check on the child before fleeing the scene. The child, Jamall Dupree Anderson Jr, was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead from his injuries. Burdick was arrested on a charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
