What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-70 in Clark County, IL on August 6th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:15 a.m. According to authorities, a semi-truck operated by 60-year-old Claude Watson is said to have attempted to pass another semi-truck headed the same direction. While doing so, the second truck is said to have crossed a center line, colliding with Watson's truck. The collision caused Watson's truck to overturn and both went into a ditch and through a steel fence. Watson's truck caught fire, causing fatal injuries at the scene. The other driver was reportedly uninjured and cited for improper lane usage.
