What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-78 in Warren County, NJ on March 10th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet SUV was traveling eastbound before coming to a stop in a shoulder for unconfined reasons. Upon re-entering the roadway, authorities say the Chevrolet was struck by an approaching eastbound semi-truck, the impact pushing the Chevrolet into a nearby guardrail. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 64-year-old Carmen F. Berretta, was hospitalized with injuries that turned fatal a few hours later. Reports indicate there were no other reported injuries and additional information was not available.
