What Happened

State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed two people at I-80 in Bergen County, NJ on May 21st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Authorities are saying a Toyota SUV someone lost control and struck a median before traveling into express lanes and colliding with a tractor-trailer. This is said to have cause the tractor-trailer to struck a box truck which caught fire, leaving its operator and passenger fatally injured. Following this, an SUV is said to have truck struck the tractor-trailer. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger were both hospitalized with suspected serious injuries while the driver and passenger of the GMC had minor injuries.
