What Happened

State Police have info regarding a crash that killed a Texas man at Orla Rd in Lea County, NM on January 6th, 2022. They say the incident involved a tractor-trailer that became stuck in the dirt and blocked both travel lanes as a result. A passing motorist, identified as 37-year-old Cesar Gutierrez Dominguez, was one of multiple people that stopped to help assist the truck. As Dominguez was standing near the rear of the truck, police say an approaching pickup truck swerved to avoid crashing into the disabled semi and struck Dominguez. Dominguez was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
