What Happened

San Juan County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed two bicyclists at Navajo Route 36 in San Juan County, NM on April 28th, 2025. Police say the incident happened around 1:48 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford Ranger, allegedly operated by Jaron Todacheeny, collided with a pair of bicyclists under unclear circumstances. Officials say both cyclists, identified as 34-year-old Cody Newton and 54-year-old Francis Matias, were fatally injured. Todacheeny was allegedly arrested on a homicide by motor vehicle-DWI charge.
