New Mexico State Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-40 near Tucumcari, NM on May 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. According to investigators, a box truck operated by 18-year-old Diego Ignacio Castro Serrito was headed westbound before leaving the roadway for unknown reasons. It then collided with a tractor-trailer parking in a shoulder. The force of the collision was severe enough that Serrito was ejected from the vehicle, suffering fatal injuries at the scene.
