What Happened

State Police have identified the person killed in a collision at State Road 209 in Curry County, NM on March 31st, 2023. Police say the incident happened as NMDOT officials were working at the scene. Police say a truck did not maintain its lane and collided with the NMDOT vehicle, which had active flashing emergency lights and flags at the time. 58-year-old NMDOT employee, Gerald Woodward, was in the bed of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The 69-year-old driver of the other truck was hospitalized in critical condition. Additional information was not available.
