What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that injured at least two people at I-90 in Sheridan, NY on June 21st, 2022. They say the incident involved a TPS Fuel truck operated by 30-year-old Jean M. Esquilin-Melendez, pickup truck operated by 40-year-old Herbert Overbeck and a van operated by an unknown diver. Investigators believed the van lost a rear wheel while driving, which struck the TPS Fuel truck. This caused the fuel truck to veer into an oncoming lane where it collided with the pickup truck head-on. Overbeck was taken by private vehicle to an area hospital. Esquilin-Melendez was hospitalized for treatment of burns and other injuries. The driver of the van reportedly fled the scene.
