What Happened

Suffolk County Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that left a man dead at Express Drive South and Motor Parkway in Long Island, NY on July 3rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9 a.m. According to investigators, a garbage truck headed eastbound on Express Drive South is said to have collided with the rear of a school bus stopped at a red light. The truck also collided with three other vehicles, also stopped at the light. An occupant of one of the vehicles involved, identified as 24-year-old Joseph Kelly, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Two others involved were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Police say the occupants of the school bus were uninjured. At this time, police do not have any additional information to share.
